Dr. Shirazi received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering with main plan in Computer Engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His research focused on building a real time intelligent system which can understand traffic patterns through surveillance cameras. The cutting-edge machine learning techniques were further applied on collected trajectories to provide useful information for design and planning of roads and intersections. His dissertation "Vision-based Intersection Monitoring: Behavior Analysis & Safety Issues" received two awards as the second-winner place for UNLV, College of Engineering, and the IEEE ITSS Best Dissertation Award in 2016. He has published his research works in several top tier IEEE conferences and journals. He has experience teaching diverse computer engineering and computer science courses for different colleges and universities. Prior to join Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK, he served as an assistant professor of Engineering at University of Indianapolis (2019-2023) and visiting assistant professor for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Cleveland State University (2016-2019) where he got selected by the students and received a teaching award as Most Outstanding Faculty Member in 2019.
