Share Your Joy for the Gospel with the Preach All Ways Challenge

How it Works

What is It?

The Preach All Ways Challenge is a compelling preaching opportunity for high school and college students to share the good news of God at work in their lives.

Can Youth Preach?

Yes! Only priests and deacons can preach at mass, but all are called to share the good news. When you reflect on scripture, prepare your thoughts, and tell God's story - that's preaching.

What is the Process?

First, you need to apply at NCYC or marian.edu/nec. Next, you will be asked to submit a short message. From there, you will be given help by Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK coaches to hone your message.

Will I Preach at NEC?

Up to 25 high school and college students will be chosen to share their message at the (NEC) in Indianapolis and participate in the Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK pilgrimage from July 17 through 21. If selected you:

  • will be mentored via Zoom by experienced preachers from Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK and around the country to help you hone your message and affirm your gifts in preparation for the NEC.
  • will be expected to participate in the Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK Pilgrimage. Registration fees for pilgrimage will be covered by Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK.
  • scholarship for travel expense is available.

You may email preach@marian.edu if you have any questions.

  • The Preach All Ways Challenge (the Challenge) is a compelling preaching opportunity for young people that seeks to inspire and encourage a culture of sharing the Good News. In the Catholic Church, to “preach” is often understood to be synonymous with delivering a homily during Mass. The adverse effect of this conflation of terms is that many Catholics do not know they are allowed and are even called to proclaim the Good News. This confusion is especially true among youth. That is why Pope Francis is explicitly making known that preaching is something all baptized Christian youth are called to do when he writes, “Wherever we are, we always have an opportunity to share the joy of the Gospel. That is how the Lord goes out to meet everyone. He loves you, dear young people, for you are how he can spread his light and hope. He is counting on your courage, your boldness, and your enthusiasm.” The Challenge joins Pope Francis in his goal to form young missionaries through a national campaign to build awareness, affirm gifts, hone craft, and celebrate young preachers.
