Get the best of both worlds! Earn a bachelor's degree from Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK that's built on a curriculum grounded by a strong liberal arts tradition. AND earn a degree from Purdue University that's built on a tradition of engineering excellence and innovation.
Upon completion, you'll graduate with TWO prestigious undergraduate degrees that distinguish you from other college graduates in the employment market:
Employers want college graduates who are good written and verbal communicators. They want students who are critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and excellent collaborators—the types of skill sets that come from a Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK liberal arts education that helps you understand the big picture as well as small details.
You can expect a Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK student experience that includes:
When it comes to highly technical engineering disciplines, employers want candidates who have graduated from a nationally recognized, research-oriented university like Purdue.
You'll live on Marian's conveniently located, wooded, and historic campus just ten minutes from the heart of downtown Indianapolis and the on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus.
We make it a smooth, easy process that gives you the best of BOTH worlds: Outstanding academic focus and a great student experience.
As a student in Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK's Dual Degree Engineering Program (DDEP), you can choose from a range of majors offered through our College of Arts and Sciences, like:
You are not limited to Bachelor of Science degrees—you can also choose from Bachelor of Arts programs. In fact, we currently have dual-degree engineering students who are majoring in Spanish, graphic design, and Theology.
You'll take your first two years of classes* on Marian's campus, completing foundational courses that all engineers must study, like calculus, chemistry, and physics as well as freshman-level general education and elective courses focused on the liberal arts. For the remainder of your degree, you'll take classes at both Marian and IUPUI.
Once you're admitted to the DDEP we've established with IUPUI, you can choose to earn a Purdue University degree in one of these six engineering disciplines:
*NOTE: If you major in motorsports engineering, you will have one class at IUPUI during your first semester. Subsequent classes will begin your third year.
To be eligible for Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK's DDEP, you should meet these admission requirements.
1. Core 40 or Academic Honors Diploma OR
2. Minimum SAT scores of 570 math and 530 verbal/critical reading OR
3. Timely submission of the Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK application and the IUPUI DDEP application (click the link to download a printable copy).
*NOTE these are minimum acceptable admission requirements. We strongly encourage you to pursue additional preparation in math and science. In particular, we recommend you make every effort to take physics in high school. Mathematically, both the Marian and IUPUI programs begin with Calculus I. If you are not prepared to study calculus in your first semester of college, the DDEP program is not a good fit for you. Being accepted to Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK does not guarantee acceptance into the DDEP. A student whose scores fall below these minimum requirements still be accepted by Marian, but may not into the DDEP program.
