Start Your Journey in Physical Therapy 

The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program is designed for students who are motivated to help others, collaborate as part of a healthcare team, and make a difference by improving movement, function, and quality of life, while reflecting Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK's mission and Franciscan values.

Admission is competitive, and we take a holistic approach—we consider your academic preparation, experiences, alignment with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK’s mission and values, and your readiness for the Physical Therapist Assistant profession. 

What You Need to Apply 

To be considered for admission to the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program, applicants must: 

  • Be admitted to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Complete the PTA application
  • Submit an academic and a general recommendation 
  • Participate in an interview (by invitation)  

International Applicants 

If English is not your native language or you are not a citizen of a country where English is an official language, please refer to the Office of International Admissions for specific requirements for undergraduate freshman and transfer applicants.

Your Application Steps

Step 1: Apply to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK

Submit your application through Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK Undergraduate Admissions.

Step 2: Complete the PTA Application. Once admitted to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK, you will complete the PTA application, which includes:

  • Transcripts (high school and/or college, if applicable)
  • Two recommendations (one academic and one general)
  • Short written responses about your interest in becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant

Step 3: Explore the Profession

You are not required to complete observation hours to apply. However, we encourage you to learn more about physical therapy by:

  • Shadowing or observing in a clinic (if available)
  • Watching videos or exploring online resources
  • Reflecting on your own experiences with healthcare

Step 4: Interview (If Selected)

  • Applicants who meet the requirements may be invited to a virtual interview. (Approximately 30 minutes)
  • Conducted by two to three PTA program representatives

How Decisions Are Made

  • After the interview, the admissions committee conducts a holistic review of each applicant, considering all components of the application.
  • Applicants are notified of their admission status within a few weeks.

If You Are Accepted

If offered admission, you will be asked to complete the following required steps to confirm and secure your place in the program:

  • Submitting an enrollment deposit
  • Signing a letter of intent
  • Completing the required onboarding steps

  • Admission is competitive and based on a holistic review process 
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and admission offers continue until the class is full   
  • Intentional misrepresentation or omission of information on any form relevant to admissions or records will subject the student to withdrawal of acceptance or dismissal if enrolled.” 
  • The PTA Program reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant for any reason deemed sufficient. Matriculation will be denied to applicants who have failed to maintain academic performance commensurate with the admissions guidelines and/or a good record of personal conduct between the time of their acceptance and their matriculation 
  • The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program does not accept transfer credits for any PTA-designated coursework, including both technical (didactic/lab) and clinical education courses. All PTA coursework must be completed within the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµAPK PTA curriculum to ensure consistency in content delivery, sequencing, and assessment of student competence in accordance with program and accreditation standards.
