According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the job outlook for accountants is expected to grow by 10 percent through 2026, and the BLS reports the median annual wage for accountants is higher than the median annual wage for all occupations.  

Accounting graduates with a bachelor’s degree are in high demand across Indianapolis and Indiana. Employers such as EY, KPMG, RSM are actively recruiting Marian graduates. As automation and AI transform the field, you’ll be prepared to be a trusted advisor by emphasizing analytical judgment, communication skills, and ethical insight—skills that go beyond traditional number crunching.

What you’ll learn  

As an Accounting major at 鶹ƵAPK, you’ll earn a Bachelor of Science degree while building a strong foundation in accounting theory, business systems, and ethics. Our program goes beyond teaching you to balance the books—we prepare you to interpret data, guide strategy, uphold integrity, and apply your knowledge through real-world experiences, including at least one required internship before graduation. 

  • Integrated CPA Exam Prep 
    Earning a CPA license is a primary goal for many accounting students. Our curriculum embeds exam review software and guidance, so you’re exam-ready before graduation. 
  • Mentorship & Support  
    You’ll develop relationships with your professors and partner with alumni mentors who support your career path every semester. Small class sizes make personal support accessible for all students.  
  • Internships & Projects  
    You’ll participates in real-world accounting projects or internships with firms like EY, KPMG, and regional companies. 
  • Ethics + Data Analytics Focus 
    Beyond fundamentals, you’ll learn to use data, analytics, and ethical decision-making to drive value.  
  • Professional Accounting Organizations: You’ll join the  (AICPA) and the  (INCPAS) which will connect you to accounting professionals as a student.  

To earn the 128-credit B.S. in Accounting degree, you’ll complete at least 72 credits of business courses including 39 credits of business core courses and 33 credits of required accounting and finance courses.

  • Prepare financial statements and reports that inform stakeholder decisions 
  • Analyze business operations using costing, budgeting, and forecasting methods 
  • Apply tax law and strategy in individual and business contexts 
  • Use auditing, assurance, and internal controls to ensure compliance and trust 
  • Employ data analytics tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau) to detect trends and insights 
  • Communicate complex financial information to non-experts
